Cuesta del obispo

The Cuesta del Obispo corresponds to a steep and zigzag section of the provincial route 33, located between the Maray area of ​​the Escoipe gorge and the Piedra del Molino (3348 masl), in the province of Salta, northern Argentina, connecting The valley of Lerma with the high valley Calchaquí.

The slope consists of a consolidated road, wide, enripiado and in permanent conservation that is meandering in its ascent. A few hundred meters before reaching its top there is a viewpoint from where you can observe the dizzying slope in almost all its extension.

Of approximately 20 kilometers of extension and to 57 km of the city of Salta, can be reached through the provincial route Nº 33. The slope ascends from the limits of the locality of Chicoana to 1270 msnm until reaching its stop In the Stone of the Mill To 3340 msnm, where the Provincial Route 33 crosses the national park Los Cardones towards Cachi.

Overhanging ravines and cliffs to reach the top can be seen different cloud formations suspended midway and condors overflying the place at a few meters high throughout the year.
